ERL Season 3 Rules & Regulations

At European Racing League, we promote clean racing and good mentality from our drivers both on and off the race track, here are the Rules we enforce to create the friendliest and fairest environment possible:

ALL DRIVERS ARE REQUESTED TO RECORD ALL OF THEIR RACES AS IT AIDS WITH STEWARDS DECISIONS, DRIVERS MAY BE PUNISHED FOR FAILING TO PROVIDE FOOTAGE OF CERTAIN INCIDENTS.

1. On-Track behaviour.

1.1: Clean Racing

1.1.1: All Drivers must be respectful to each other on track, and do everything possible to avoid contact with each other, while remaining within track-limits.

1.1.2: If there is contact between drivers, the Stewards will determine the severity of the incident and penalise those at fault (See Penalties section for further information). Intentionally making contact or crashing out fellow drivers however, will result in severe punishment, most likely exclusion from the league.

1.1.3: If you believe you are at fault for an incident with another driver, you are required to back off and negate any advantage gained, or return the position if you overtook the affected driver as a result. Failure to do so may result in a penalty. (Or an increase in penalty severity if one is applicable for the incident).

1.2: Overtaking & Defending

1.2.1: When overtaking a car, ensure your car is close enough to the driver in-front to make them aware that you may attempt an overtake.

1.2.2: If you are alongside the other driver in the braking zone, they must leave you enough space to attempt the overtake, if you are too far back the defending driver is under no obligation to allow you room to overtake, so any contact will result in the overtaker being punished.

1.2.3: The overtaking Driver must not force the defending driver off track or vice-versa in order to complete the overtake, this too will result in punishment.

1.3: Track Limits

1.3.1: Drivers must keep at least 2 tyres within the white lines on either side of the track at all times, not the kerbs, as these are not considered within the track boundaries.

1.3.2: Strict Corner cutting will be used in order to punish drivers who abuse track limits, during qualifying; the game should invalidate your lap and during the race; every 3 warnings will result in a 3 second penalty added on to your race time.

1.3.3: If you overtake a Driver while all 4 wheels are off track, you must slow down and allow the driver you overtook to take the position back, the game should issue you with a penalty if you do not so.

1.4: Qualifying Etiquette

1.4.1: It is each Drivers responsibility to find space on track where they will not be impeded by another driver on their flying lap.

1.4.2: If you are not on a flying-lap, you must pull off line to allow any drivers who are on flying laps to pass without impeding them in any way, failure to do so will result in punishment.

1.4.3: If you are on a flying lap, you are under no obligation to allow other drivers to pass, even if they are faster than you are, however do be aware that if they try to overtake you, you must respect normal racing conditions and allow them the space to overtake.

1.4.4: Drivers are not permitted to crash their car out intentionally during qualifying, this is because it allows you to start the race on fresh tyres, even if your fastest time put you in the Top 10.

1.4.5: If you crash out accidentally and still qualify inside the Top 10, you must start the race on a different set of the same tyres you set your best lap on.

1.4.6: Drivers are not permitted to drive on Wet or Intermediate tyres if the track is clearly Dry, the Lap Time Delta in the pits will help in understanding what tyres are best for the conditions.

1.5: Race Etiquette.

1.5.1: Drivers are advised to complete the formation lap, intentionally crashing on the formation lap may result in a Stewards Penalty, this is because it can affect the condition of your tyres compared to the others who complete the formation lap.

1.5.2: Drivers must be cautious into the first corners of the race, avoid contact at all times. Drivers towards the back of the field will be required to brake much earlier for turn one due to the naturally slower speed of turn 1 combined with the high number of drivers attempting to take it cleanly.

1.5.3: Drivers must remain within the white lines of the pit entry and exit when pitting, and must also slow down to the required pit lane speed limit and activate the limiter BEFORE the white line. Failure to do so will result in an in-game penalty.

1.5.4: Sections 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 must be adhered to at all times during the race.

1.5.5: We advise drivers to not pause their game during the race unless absolutely necessary, and incidents that are caused as a result of a driver being paused will still be punished as normal.

1.5.6: We advise drivers to keep going during the race, even if you are a lap down and wish to give up, this is because retiring your car could result in an unnecessary safety car situation, we want the Safety Car to come out when it is genuinely required, NOT when a driver has just given up. The only time that leaving or retiring from the session is permitted, is if you feel you are a hazard to other drivers due to connection issues.

1.6: Safety Car/VSC Etiquette.

1.6.1: When the VSC is deployed, all drivers must keep within the Delta time issued by the game until the Green Flag is waved to signal the end of the VSC period. If you a faster than the delta when the green flag is waving OR when entering the pit lane, the game will issue you with a penalty.

1.6.2: When behind the Safety Car, Drivers must keep a safe distance to the driver in front, in order to avoid contact. Drivers must not be alongside the driver in front at any point during a Safety Car period, Drivers must not suddenly slam on the brakes during the Safety Car, all braking must be gradual, to avoid contact and to avoid an accordion effect, which will impact all drivers behind the braking driver.

1.6.3: If you are leading the field when the Safety Car comes in, you control the pace of the field before the Green Flag conditions, however the lead driver should maintain a speed of at least 50mph (80kph), excluding corners where lower speed is required, this is to avoid collisions and multiple cars right on top of each other. Failure to do so could result in a post-race penalty from the Stewards.

1.7: Absence.

1.7.1: If you are unable to attend a race, you must message one of the admins (michaelangelo53, JohnnyR95 or ERL_Falcon) with what race(s) you will be missing and a reason for the absence. Missing a race because you “Don’t want to race” or “Don’t like the track” are not valid reasons and will be treated as an uninformed absence. Uninformed absences will result in a reprimand being issued, read section 4.1 for further information on reprimands.

1.7.2: You yourself must be the person to inform the Admins of your absence, you cannot ask somebody else to excuse your absence on your behalf, and doing so will result in an uninformed absence, and a reprimand will be issued.

2: Group chat behaviour.

2.1: The Group Chats are meant to be a friendly environment for the drivers where league announcements and race discussions take place. Drivers spamming the chats, posting unrelated material or advertising other leagues will be reprimanded by the Stewards.

2.2: Drivers must be courteous and friendly towards each other, no abusive language or bullying is permitted in the chats, anyone caught doing so will be punished by the Stewards, depending on the severity of the incident.

2.3: When incidents occur in the race, Drivers must discuss any issues in a private message to the driver(s) involved as well as to the Stewards, this stops the chats being overloaded with messages which are of no importance to the rest of the Drivers, arguments in the main chat will be punished.

2.4: All Stewards decisions will be discussed and investigated away from the main chats, the results of the decisions will be posted in the main chats however. If there is any disagreements with the Stewards decisions, you must message the Stewards directly and discuss it in private.

3: Penalties.

3.1: In-game Penalties:

The game will award penalties for drivers during the race for multiple reasons, these may include:

·         Corner cutting (3 second penalty per 3 warnings, maybe further time penalties for severe cuts)

·         Jump-starts (Drive-through penalty that must be served within 3 laps)

·         Collisions with other cars (These are rarely issued and normally only for severe incidents, often time penalties)

·         Speeding behind the Safety Car/VSC (Drive-through penalty, must be served within 3 laps)

·         Speeding in the pit-lane (5 Second Stop-Go penalty that will be served during your next pitstop, if no further pit stops are required then it will be added on to your race time at the end)

·         Illegal overtakes (5 second stop-go)

·         Ignoring yellow flags (5 second stop-go)

·         Ignoring blue-flags

3.2: Stewards.

3.2.1: If a driver has an incident(s) that they wish the Stewards to look at after the race, they must message one or both of the Stewards (JohnnyR95 & ERL_Falcon) with footage (YouTube link) and a timestamp of the incident, along with the drivers involved and their account of the incident by 5pm UK time on Monday. This will allow the Stewards to investigate and decide on any necessary punishments before the build-up to the next race. Any inquiries made after this deadline will not be looked at.

3.2.2: If any drivers involved in any incidents cannot provide their point of view of the incident without valid reason, then the Stewards will issue a penalty in accordance with the POV's provided, in order to ensure all drivers ensure they record their races and incidents.

3.2.3: As mentioned in Rules 2.3 and 2.4, all drivers must make all communication with the stewards and others regarding incidents privately.

4. Stewards Penalties:

4.1: Reprimands.

4.1: The Stewards may issue reprimands to Drivers for off-track etiquette. Reprimands will be awarded for the following:

·         Uninformed absence

·         Spamming/Unnecessary messages in chat

·         Insulting/Offensive language in chats

·         Arguing with Stewards decisions.

Drivers will be punished further if they continue to accumulate reprimands.

3 REPRIMANDS OVER THE SEASON WILL RESULT IN A RACE-BAN

5 REPRIMANDS OVER THE SEASON WILL RESULT IN POSSIBLE EXCLUSION FROM THE LEAGUE.

4.2: Post-race penalties.

4.2.1: The Stewards will issue penalties after the race after investigating any incidents sent to them. These will be announced in the main chats prior to the following race.

4.2.2: These penalties will vary depending on the severity of the incident and a suitable penalty will be applied to the driver, the Stewards will take into account the severity of the incident; the amount of time lost by all drivers involved, the situation in the race and whether there was malicious intent behind the move. The penalties may be one of the following:

·         Time Penalty (added onto the penalised driver’s race time, length will vary on factors mentioned above.)

·         Qualifying Ban

·         Race Ban

·         Multiple Race Ban

·         League Expulsion

·         Reprimand

ALL STEWARDS DECISIONS ARE FINAL. ANY ARGUING WITH DECISIONS WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A REPRIMAND.
